Graduation is a significant milestone, marking the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. As graduates prepare to step into the world, they may seek guidance and wisdom to navigate life’s challenges. In this blog post, we explore what Jesus would tell a graduate to equip them with valuable insights for their journey ahead. Drawing from biblical teachings and Jesus’ enduring messages, this advice is a foundation for living a purpose-driven, ethical, and fulfilling life in today’s fast-paced world.

What Jesus Would Tell a Graduate

As graduation approaches, many young adults are faced with the daunting task of navigating the real world. In this fast-paced and ever-changing society, it can be difficult to know where to turn. However, as a follower of Christ, there is no better guidance than what can be found in the Bible. Here are some things that Jesus would likely tell a graduate before they head out into the world.

Choose What Master You Will Follow

Jesus made it clear that we cannot serve two masters. In Matthew 6:24, he says, “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.” As you head out into the world, it is important to remember this truth. Will you be devoted to God, or will you be devoted to the things of this world? The choice is yours.

Find Your Purpose in Life

God has a plan for each and every one of us. In Jeremiah 29:11, he says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” It is important to seek God and ask him to reveal his plan for your life. When you find your purpose, you will find fulfillment.

Choose Your Spouse Carefully

Marriage is a sacred covenant between a man and a woman. In Mark 10:9, Jesus says, “Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” It is important to choose your spouse carefully, seeking God’s guidance in the process. When you marry someone who shares your faith and values, you will be able to build a strong and lasting relationship.

Who do you want to do life with? That’s a big decision.  Well, it is for believers. Because Jesus’ followers believe in the covenant power of marriage. So we don’t go in thinking- if it gets difficult I’ll just throw the towel in. With that mindset, it will never last. Now I know there are some situations where divorce is the only option, but the world today is making marriage empty and hollow and its effects on the family are all around us.

Instead of spending all your time looking for your Queen, spend your time becoming a King (and vice versa).

If you want to have a healthy and GODLY marriage then marry someone who loves Jesus.

Amos 3:3 NLT

3 Can two people walk together without agreeing on the direction?

2 Corinthians 6:14-16 NIV

14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? 15 What harmony is there between Christ and Belial[a]? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?

That’s a choice YOU make. Some people didn’t think it through and now they are paying the price for it. It’s hard. When the home feels split, when one parent teaches the love of Jesus and the other says “Whatever!” The kids don’t know who to believe or which path to take. It brings weight and added stress when we already have plenty of that don’t we?

This is a great example of Godly wisdom that can save you much much heartache. When we ignore God’s wisdom in his word the consequences can be crushing.

Seek Wisdom From Above

Big decisions require Big Wisdom and that only comes from God.  Human wisdom helps some, but spiritual wisdom helps all. The best thing we can learn in this season is to lean into God and ask him for wisdom to make the right decisions instead of trusting in ourselves and calling the shots. That never goes well. Here’s the Good news: God wants to give you wisdom. James 1:5 says “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”

Trust in God’s Plan

Finally, it is essential to trust in God’s plan for your life. In Proverbs 3:5-6, we are reminded to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” As you navigate the real world, there will be times when you feel lost or uncertain. However, if you trust in God and submit to his will, he will guide you on the right path.

Conclusion

In the end, Jesus would provide wisdom and guidance to graduates as they embark on their journey into the world. He would remind them of the importance of love, compassion, and humility, and wisdom in their daily lives. Keep faith and trust in God’s plan, knowing that difficulties and challenges are opportunities for growth.

Remember to treat others with kindness and respect. It is through these actions that true success and fulfillment in life can be found. As graduates step out into the world, it is essential to carry these messages of hope, love, and perseverance in their hearts, paving the way for a brighter future.
